See what happened after\n</p><p>When a crocodile attempted to bite off his trunk, the newborn elephant escaped with the help of his mother.\n</p><p>A crocodile emerged from the water and grabbed a newborn elephant\u2019s trunk as it swam around the deep end of a watering hole in the African woodland.\n</p><p>The herd mates looked on in awe as they fought to protect the helpless young calf from the menace, trunking and snorting.\n</p><p>The young elephant overpowered the terrified crocodile and toppled back to avoid harm, driving it back into the dark water.\n</p><p><img fetchpriority='\"high\"' decoding='\"async\"' class='\"aligncenter' size-full wp-image-94473 src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/writehorizon.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/2024%5C/10%5C/baa1-768x511-1.webp%5C%22" alt='\"\"' width='\"768\"' height='\"511\"' srcset='\"https:\/\/writehorizon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/baa1-768x511-1.webp' https: sizes='\"(max-width:'>\n</p><p>A newborn elephant sips at a watering hole in the African wilderness, as a crocodile sits stiffly in the water a few feet away. The crocodile leaps out of the water, snapping its jaws tight around the calf\u2019s trunk in an instant.\n</p><p>Mana Pools\u2019 breathtaking photos in Zimbabwe\u2019s Zambezi Valley were taken with Francois Borman\u2019s camera.\u201d I never expected to witness this! \u201cI was out in the jungle for several hours, hoping for some action,\u201d he screamed.\n</p><p>I typically have high expectations when I go out with my camera, but this circumstance is simply incredible to behold.\n</p><p><img decoding='\"async\"' class='\"aligncenter' size-full wp-image-94474 src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/writehorizon.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/2024%5C/10%5C/baa2-768x511-1.webp%5C%22" alt='\"\"' width='\"768\"' height='\"511\"' srcset='\"https:\/\/writehorizon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/baa2-768x511-1.webp' https: sizes='\"(max-width:'>\n</p><p>\u201cA local crocodile saw the herd of small elephants coming down to drink and spent some time measuring them up, chasing the baby calf playing in the shallows,\u201d according to a witness.\n</p><p>\u201cIt\u2019s clear the baby elephant was excited about the water because he sprang into the deep, murky water and began to roll around, screaming.\u201d\n</p><p>The amazing photos were taken by talented photographer and farmer Francois Borman in Zimbabwe, close to the Mana Pools in the Zambezi Valley.\n</p><p>The remainder of the herd watched in amazement, snorting and trumpeting as they battled to keep the defenseless newborn elephant safe.\n</p><p><img decoding='\"async\"' class='\"aligncenter' size-full wp-image-94475 src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/writehorizon.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/2024%5C/10%5C/baa3-768x511-1.webp%5C%22" alt='\"\"' width='\"768\"' height='\"511\"' srcset='\"https:\/\/writehorizon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/baa3-768x511-1.webp' https: sizes='\"(max-width:'>\n</p><p>With some assistance from his mother, the newborn elephant shrugs off the crocodile and stumbles backward.\n</p><p>\u201cIt didn\u2019t have to worry about the outside world, and it definitely didn\u2019t consider the dangers that might be present in the murky waters,\u201d according to him.\n</p><p>The tiny calf knelt down to drink from its lips because it was unsure of how to use its trunk to do so. Eventually, it got up and tried its hand at using its trunk to reach the water.\n</p><p>\u201cIt was a mess when the crocodile jumped onto the baby elephant\u2019s trunk and grabbed it.\u201dWith a strangled shriek, the calf rushed the crocodile, battling for survival.\n</p><p><img loading='\"lazy\"' decoding='\"async\"' class='\"aligncenter' size-full wp-image-94476 src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/writehorizon.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/2024%5C/10%5C/baa4-768x511-1.webp%5C%22" alt='\"\"' width='\"768\"' height='\"511\"' srcset='\"https:\/\/writehorizon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/baa4-768x511-1.webp' https: sizes='\"(max-width:'>\n</p><p>\u201cTime stopped still as the calf resisted and with incredible tenacity, almost immediately pulled the reptile out of the water.\u201d After additional elephants arrived to help, the crocodile finally released the calf.\n</p><p>\u201cWhen I saw my pictures, I was overjoyed because I knew they were special.\u201d\n</p><p>\u201cSnaps like this are the payoff\u2014wildlife photographers spend a lot of time waiting, hoping for that specific sight.\u201d\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"</p><p>Crocodile caught little elephant\u2019s trunk when he was drinking a water!
