In his senior years, attempting to avoid a collision with a dog,\n
the old man lost control of his vintage motorcycle and found himself in a ditch by the side of the road.\n
With some effort, he managed to crawl out, and a compassionate lady, who happened to stop her car, approached him with concern, asking,\n
\u201cAre you okay?\u201d\n
\u201cI\u2019m okay, I reckon,\u201d he replied as he pulled himself up.\n
She kindly insisted, \u201cCome, get in my car. I\u2019ll take you to my place just a few blocks away. You can freshen up, and\u00a0 then I\u2019ll examine to confirm that you are not hurt.\u201d\n
\u201cThat\u2019s mighty kind of you,\u201d he answered,\n
\u201cbut I don\u2019t think my wife would approve of me doing that!\u201d\n
\u201cOh, come on, I\u2019m a retired nurse,\u201d she insisted.\n
\u201cWe need to see if you have any scrapes and treat them properly.\u201d\n
Despite his reservations, the old man couldn\u2019t refuse the kind offer and repeated,
\n\u201cI\u2019m sure my wife won\u2019t like this.\u201d\n
Upon reaching her place and after a bit of cleaning up, she examined the old man to confirm he didn\u2019t have any major injuries and then offered a cup of tea.\n
They shared a couple of stories, but all along, the old man couldn\u2019t shake off a feeling of guilt.\n
Finally, he admitted,\n
\u201cI feel a lot better now, but I know my wife is going to be really upset, so I\u2019d better be on my way.\u201d\n
